Funny you bring this up, was talking with a coach last night about this very topic. Data seems to back it up in the aggregate -- 4S iVB is up about .5" compared to last year with nearly the same release metrics. The only hesitancy I have is that the numbers line up pretty well with April last season? Might be some effect (fatigue) that pulls down slot and iVB as a season progresses? At least that seems to have happened last year.
I wonder if there's a specific window of spin eff that's seeing more exaggerated effects this season?
Also, if this is the actual Adam Ottavino, sweeper extraordinaire, thanks for the sub.
In 23 we were clearly dealing with two different balls as the same time. We had the Mets put the movement data up on the scoreboard so we could make sure we had the ball we wanted pitch to pitch. For example, if Verlander threw a 4 Seam and saw 14ivb he would immediately get a new ball and check again
Yamamoto’s fastball improvement continues to be encouraging. He’s already had 2 starts this year averaging 96+ MPH on his 4S. Looks like he’s continued to drop the arm angle on his splitter to add horizontal break too.
I’ve noticed more carry on 4 seamers so far and that could indicate a return to 2019ish balls.

That's a fantastic nugget
Cubs have real-time data on their scoreboard in LF as well now. Thought it was for us nerds, but now I see the greater utility
Yes, very hard to predict if it will continue . Many factors could change the data as the season progreses.
The balls could change as we go as well
